Gama-scissors

I bought this and some other designs for my siblings a few months ago at National Bookstore, Market! Market!, Taguig City. Cool how they don't have a minimum for credit card purchases but of course I've learned my lesson. I've been doing my best to restrain myself from using thy card for anything that includes my crazy obsession (yes, it's severe) over anything green and frog in nature. Trust me, it's a pain. But thinking about my monthly dues is much more excruciatingly painful. Thank you higher being for giving me a father who's very talented with budgeting and banking skills. Did I mention he's also a ninja driver?

The registration at VTech Tower, Quezon City received good feedback from new nursing registrants. The registration started at exactly 8:00 am and can be finished in more or less -- 1 hour.

A week ago she became sick alongside my mom. Of course, we took care of her and made her drink medicine and eat right. But as the days passed by, she began to refuse eating anything and stayed in her bed all day long.

Last Monday, the only thing she ate I think were two pieces of bread. Last Tuesday, a bowl of porridge. Yesterday, she even refused to drink even a single drop of water. My Dad called her parents last night to inform them that he's sending her home the earliest time possible today before he went to work.

PUTANGINA KUNG MAGPAPAKAMATAY KA WAG SA BAHAY NAMIN!

I cooked breakfast and dinner for the last few days before and after work. Forgive me if I don't look human right now.

I went to the office yesterday to talk to our HR for the schedule that I'll be having for this week. Since I forgot that it was her day-off every Saturday, her being a Sabbadista (pano ba ispell yun?) I had to go back today. Apparently, she goes to the office at 1300 JT / 2pm our time, so my being early at 11am wasn't exactly successful. Since I didn't have any breakfast earlier, I decided on grabbing a bite at Market! Market! where I'm supposed to meet Jhed anyways. He was a little late so the little bite I wanted became lunch when I saw two college friends dining at the food court. I like seeing old friends and catching up with them. It is only during those times when you realize that you've been a good classmate, a good friend to them because you feel that they genuinely missed you as much as you have missed them. Kahit pa nung isang araw lang magkakausap kayo sa Facebook or whatever.

His being late wasn't that bad. After my impromptu lunch date with my friends, I went up to Timezone for my DDR practice. And practice I did. But not much coz I feel a sprain growing in intensity every time I exert too much effort. Must. Not. Break. Foot. I have a competition I need to win.

The point? Wala lang. I went back to the office around 6:30pm and then was, FINALLY, able to fix my schedule. I'm back to work on Tuesday. Last day of my bum days today, Monday. I'll be missing my buhay baboy days.

BTW, I tasted my first Pares Mami earlier when we got home from the office. He insisted on accompanying me kasi he wanted to see Weyn. Sino ba talaga jowa mo? HAHAHAHA

Back to work tomorrow.

Hindi naman sa pumupulitika no. I just found my voice and found people who appreciates my arguments. It's been a few months since I started being REALLY active over at twitter with my personal account @missymace and my pseudo-heroic one @BatangSora. Some people still can't believe I am the user of that account, but it's true. I've been invited to join the Dead Heroes Society and has been actively participating in online discussions and, now that the NLE's done, I can now join some programs and events. Yay!

Last night I stayed up late for the Live Premier of Harry Potter DH2 in London via YouTube. I cried, okay. I LITERALLY BAWLED MY EYES OUT especially when Jo Rowling started her emotional speech.

They all look absolutely lovely btw. Except for Bonnie who was sporting her great-aunt Tessie's dress robes.

She looks ghastly IMO. Meh. Or maybe it's just the shot and the fact that the only color she has is her ginger hair and her bright blue eyes.

I mean, look at Emma. So fresh, so divine, so like a swan. loljk I'm happy she's happy. But you know how I feel about the books and the movies. I DON'T WANT THEM TO END.

I really like how humble and fun-loving she is. And I want that gown. Hindi naman masyado obvious. I wasn't able to see it very clearly last night as I have the worst Internet connection in the entire Muggle world. I had no idea it wasn't entirely a tube! And as forever tulle this gown has, she it doesn't eat her petite body. GUJAB!

Birthday Party con Face to Face with Ex-"So Called" Friends

I have at last found time to confront what has been bothering me for weeks now. Video games are nothing but trivial. But when it comes to friendship and relationships, that's where the problem starts. Good thing the work that I have gives me the freedom to choose my own schedule thus I was able to squeeze in some hours for me to pick up my courage and talk to the people involved personally.

Fights and misunderstandings sometimes can easily be resolved with a simple conversation. A little clearing up of facts and lies and reasons. As long as both sides are open to opinions and criticisms, and that they both want to reconcile and anything close to that, problems are just a piece of cake. It's just a matter of giving importance to friendship rather than one's own pride.

What I'm most proud of myself is that I do my best in finding out the truth from both sides before judging the situation. I may easily come to conclusions regarding things and persons I really hate, e.g. Willie Revillame, it is always because I have a basis to do so. I may sound judgemental (if that is a word) but this is only after carefully thinking about the pros and cons of sticking to my opinions and arguments.

Today my stomach is full with the usual Pinoy birthday handa. But I must say, the good vibes made me even fuller because of the good turn out of a silent war with a once called "so called" friends.

I usually wake up after 8 hours of sleep. But being the lazy ass that I am, I went back to sleep and woke up 3 hours after, at around 10. You see, I HAD to get up because in actual fact, I have a shit load of laundry to wash, I have a horrendous closet to fix, and I have an unbelievable amount of clutter and all other things on my study table and everywhere else for that matter. I did all these while listening/watching mass and the 7 Last Words on TV with my family.

This has been my typical Good Friday for the last three years. Normally, we would have been at my mother's hometown in Bicol as a sort of vacation. But since everybody in our family and relatives are busy with our lives, we haven't been able to do this tradition with everybody. I really miss having wrestling matches with my cousins, cooking lessons with my uncles, story tellings with my aunts, procession with our other relatives, and of course, biking trips alone around the fast growing municipality. I'm yet to feel again the cool fresh air only a province can give you.

Earthquake Survival Tips

Very, very useful especially because The Philippines has just experienced an earthquake of 5.7 magnitude at the Lubang Fault, Occidental Mindoro, WNW of Batangas.

FROM DOUG COPP'S ARTICLE ON 'THE TRIANGLE OF LIFE'

My name is Doug Copp. I am the Rescue Chief and Disaster Manager of the American Rescue Team International (ARTI ), the world's most experienced rescue team. The information in this article will save lives in an earthquake.

I have crawled inside 875 collapsed buildings, worked with rescue teams from 60 countries, founded rescue teams in several countries, and I am a member of many rescue teams from many countries. I was the United Nations expert in Disaster Mitigation for two years, and have worked at every major disaster in the world since 1985, except for simultaneous disasters.

The first building I ever crawled inside of was a school in Mexico City during the 1985 earthquake. Every child was under its desk. Every child was crushed to the thickness of their bones. They could have survived by lying down next to their desks in the aisles. It was obscene -- unnecessary.

Simply stated, when buildings collapse, the weight of the ceilings falling upon the objects or furniture inside crushes these objects, leaving a space or void next to them - NOT under them. This space is what I call the 'triangle of life'. The larger the object, the stronger, the less it will compact. The less the object compacts, the larger the void, the greater the probability that the person who is using this void for safety will not be injured. The next time you watch collapsed buildings, on television, count the 'triangles' you see formed. They are everywhere. It is the most common shape, you will see, in a collapsed building.

TIPS FOR EARTHQUAKE SAFETY

1) Most everyone who simply 'ducks and covers' when building collapse are crushed to death. People who get under objects, like desks or cars, are crushed.

2) Cats, dogs and babies often naturally curl up in the fetal position. You should too in an earthquake. It is a natural safety/survival instinct. You can survive in a smaller void. Get next to an object, next to a sofa, next to a bed, next to a large bulky object that will compress slightly but leave a void next to it.

3) Wooden buildings are the safest type of construction to be in during an earthquake. Wood is flexible and moves with the force of the earthquake. If the wooden building does collapse, large survival voids are created. Also, the wooden building has less concentrated, crushing weight. Brick buildings will break into individual bricks. Bricks will cause many injuries but less squashed bodies than concrete slabs.

4) If you are in bed during the night and an earthquake occurs, simply roll off the bed. A safe void will exist around the bed. Hotels can achieve a much greater survival rate in earthquakes, simply by posting a sign on the back of the door of every room telling occupants to lie down on the floor, next to the bottom of the bed during an earthquake.

5) If an earthquake happens and you cannot easily escape by getting out the door or window, then lie down and curl up in the fetal position next to a sofa, or large chair.

6) Most everyone who gets under a doorway when buildings collapse is killed. How? If you stand under a doorway and the doorjamb falls forward or backward you will be crushed by the ceiling above. If the door jam falls sideways you will be cut in half by the doorway. In either case, you will be killed!

Rare Finds. Or Not Really

From Shaw Blvd, Mandaluyong, to Market! Market!, Taguig, to Glorietta 4, Makati, and then back to Market! Market!, Taguig, we went for most of this day. I was with the boyfriend and had a great time with our team mates. A lot of things happened in Glorietta 4. I'd rather not divulge this one here as it is quite personal and might evoke a big discussion among the two teams.

We rode The Fort Bus back to Market! Market! and the guys let us ride the jeepney first before going to their homes. I was really happy that the jeepney that was waiting for me to cross the street was full. But happy was I not. It was full of drunk teenagers. I quite understand the nature of today's generation but I don't really get how their parents treat them when they get home drunk. Some of them were even passed out. Well anyway, as I was about to get down the jeepney after saying a very loud "Para!!!", I was surprised that most of them said, "Bye Ate! Ingat ka po." It was so nice to hear that people who don't even know you wishes you goodness, so I said, "Ingat din kayo," with a happy face "wag kayo uminom!" I was about to say had I not been able to hold my tongue. I know they're nice kids. I just hope they have their priorities set correctly.

I think I saw Sailor Venus as well.

Being the masipag ate that I am, I cooked pork curry for dinner and finished at around 4pm. And bilang naka-braces ako, I need more than an hour to finish one whole meal. Just enough time left for me to prepare for work a.k.a. Pokpok/Moonlighter sa Buendia. So while I was eating, my mom's friend, our neighbor came in and had a chat with us. After the chismis and all that, my mom asked neighbor if the other neighbor has an "ugali". Here's the convo:

Neighbor: "Yeah. Mana sa ina."

Mommy: "Pati sa ama diba."

Me: "E ako, ano namana ko sayo?"

Neighbor: "Pareho kayo tumingin. Mula ulo hanggang kaibuturan nung tao."

Me: "Ay nako, napagalitan ako ni _______ nung isang araw kasi may dumaan tapos tinignan ko. Sabi niya, "Oy, yang mata mo nga."

What's really funny is that my mom's friend from way back also said the same thing to her more than 10 years ago. HAHAHAHA Namamana nga ba ang killer stare?

Me: "Pangit kasi fit ng jeans niya."

Because I Just Have To Say This

I finished book 3 for the nth time very early this morning and may I say that this I think is one of the best from the series. I have this contented feeling that I can't really explain. It was such a good feeling.

Unlike Harry, I have loads of godparents who swore in the name of God that they'd be there for me shall my parents are unable to. Unfortunately, all of them are overseas, unable to talk to me when they can because I never had the chance to get to know them. The fact that they were away from bothered me before because during the holidays, I was the only one who has no presents under the tree. (Ako nang kawawa) But I never really voiced this out to my parents whom I think compensates with the ang pao that they usually give me behind my siblings back. It really wasn't about the gifts though. As I've said, I really wanted to know the people my parents chose for my second parents.

I wonder how it would be like if Sirius was my godfather though. I think it would be absolutely brilliant.

Night Duty

Coming home at around 1:15 in the wee hours of the night, our visitor opened the door for me. Apparently, my grandmother's check-up is scheduled for today (although technically, that was yesterday already) and she and my aunt traveled from Or. Mindoro to Veterans Hospital all the way up North. I was surprised to see my aunt's face aged 10 more years compared to the last time that I saw her which was more than two months ago. Caring for an old person is hard. But add Alzheimer's disease and diabetes to the formula and you'd get the worst time of your life.

It has been two years since my grandmother was diagnosed of Alzheimer's disease. At first, it wasn't that much of a burden because it was rare that she forgets about anything. She is an intelligent woman. A teacher turned District Supervisor, she was wise and sharp. She even remembers every single person who has a debt from her. Anyways, as the months got by, her condition worsened. Being a diabetic, it was already too much when she wakes my aunt at least six times in the night just to go to the bathroom and afterwards ask for water. Now that she has become worse, getting even forty winks would be a miracle.

Being that, as a Nursing graduate and a granddaughter, I sympathize with my aunt and shared the load of taking care of lola tonight. This will be a long one as for the last 30minutes, my grandma has already gone to the bathroom thrice, asked for water four times and has shouted "Nay!" (my great grandmother) twice. The latter was the worst.

Tonight I want my aunt to have a decent sleep. For her sleep has been deprived from her for the last 18 months. She is also a first born like me and I feel the pain of watching your mother so helpless and now, calling out for her mother. Though it was creepy, as it sank to me the meaning of this, I feel the huge responsibility of being a daughter. One who has to take care of her parent the moment they feel that life is slowly ebbing away. Not only because it is a responsibility, but also out of respect. Out of love.

I went to my dentist with the boyfriend last Saturday for my braces' monthly adjustment a.k.a. HELL. He added some of those Sanrio-like rubber bands to establish my bite thus the PseudoFangs. The only thing I love about these rubbers is that it makes me look like I have sprouted fangs and whenever I talk, people usually look at me with those weird stares. Hello, I am Caroline Forbes. It's Been A While

there really is nothing much to blab about at this time of my life. even though i've got dumbo, most of my time is spent indoors due to my super free schedule. that is, until i go to my hospital duties for my major subjects late this february and two weeks of march. and almost all of this free time is spent in front of the computer watching anime, reading mangas, reading fanfictions of these mangas, attempting to write fanfictions and doing my proofreading assignments given by the amazing mods from mangaabyss, the scanlating group i've been involved with since late last year. oh, and of course, i sweep the floor, mop it two times, cook the food, wash the dishes, wash the clothes, hang them(i hate this part), fold those that have been dried, tend to the store, and the ever so strenious chore of cleaning the bathroom.

really, what is there to blog about? 5 days of the week i am at home. there is this one thing though.

i love gossip. especially when it's about the people i hate/loathe/want to kill. especially thooooooose who have no respect for other people, who does not know the word thanks and thooooooose who are envious and insecure.

the most fun i've had in this confinement at home was when i was hearing my neighbors fight over money. what's frustrating though is that they don't really have that kind of money to have a fight about. it sure shook our whole building, waking those already in peaceful slumber and alerting those who are concerned for the couple's children's welfare. not only do they have five children whose ages are like steps, but also, both of them do not have a job. useless people. ugh

anyways. the stuff teh mother brought back when she was at cali has arrived via cargo door-to-door service or whatever those box transferers call them. my shorts are here! hurrah!

the mother will be home at 3:45am tomorrow. what else could that mean but to prep for her arrival. and by prep we mean scrub the whole house, change all the linens, change all the curtains, wash all the clothes, iron those that have been washed, clean the refrigerator, shop for the pantry and everything else that needs to be done. good thing i have my fridays off. and another good thing the father has his ADO. thank god for no work days. then again, it would have been better if we weren't to kill ourselves fixing the house. damnit.

there's one good thing to the mother's come back, though. teh lappy toppy. i've heard from the father that she didn't buy the vaio instead buying some toshiba cheaper one. BUT, i've also heard from the cali cousin that it's way better....... :) let's see!!

i'm cleaning my phone memory. getting ready for more endeavor. endeavor means pictures. :))

this was on the school's bulletin board a week after our battery exam

i passed!! along with jhing, kish, lalyn, rachel and grace :)

we weren't able to study and prepare for this exam because of the case presentations we needed to prepare for and that community shit which required my full attention, being leader and all. good thing i have the most wonderful groupmates who helped me finish our paper in time. the last two weeks of that semester sure was hectic. i wasn't able to see my father during that time. i was doing school shit whenever he's home and whenever i'm at home, he's at the office. there was even a time when i've been awake for three days straight.

but my time with my community groupmates was one of the best. especially the times when we were doing paper works at meggy's place. we sure cleaned up her refrigerator and pantry during those times :)

manga assignment

it's been almost a month since i've been given proofreading assignments by sera from my scanlation group, manga abyss. i'm new there, only with them less than half the year. but i think i'm getting the hang of the stuff they've been giving me.

it's nice being able to participate in what i've been leeching on ever since i've discovered online manga.

it's nice to know that i'm quite good with something i have my interest on. the only problem now is to keep as short a time as possible finishing them. the father is fond of hovering like a vulture looking at the lcd screen commenting on what i've been doing. a pain but i most of the time don't care. i'm the one in command of the pc anyways.

my mcn2 class finished 30 minutes ago. it's now 4:35pm on my watch and i've got more than an hour of wait til my next class, humanities. ugh

i'm not really much into art, much less appreciate and criticize them. i'm not an artistic person. i've never done anything which resembles creativity. so i guess my good copying/cheating skills may come in handy with assignments and projects and most importantly, exams. good thing i know some geeks to rely on. HAHA

it hasn't been 10 minutes since i've arrived from powerplant and now i'm blabbing :)

i'm not much of a movie rater. i basically just tell if i liked the movie or not. so, i liked it. it was fun to watch, especially the baseball game part. esme's just too cute. and emmett! oh kami. can he get any more silly? AND JASPER. well not his character really but the ACTOR portraying him. he's so silly in a way that he doesn't need to do anything to be funny.

perhaps it would have been better if i had seen the movie first before reading the saga. i was anticipating scenes. some were met. some were a disappointment. some were done beautifully. well, that's what we must expect from books-turned-movies, right?

anyway.. to business.

the field trip sucked. for the most part anyway. i enjoyed my time with the totoys. woot! much much fun. they sure are a crazy bunch. beautiful additions to my already crazy world of crazy circle of friends. :P

i watched twilight with apple btw. and boy was she hyped.

when insomnia strikes, it strikes real bad. ellen and hanne was right. i don't sleep. well, i do TRY to sleep whenever i get to but when this stoopid insomia do the deed, i just can't get a wink of sleep which lasts for at least 2 days. gaaaahd. i look like shit right now. it's 3:27am according to my clock. 33 minutes more and the sissy shall be awakened by the deafening yellow alarm clock to prep for school. ooooooh. i so want to sleep right now like real bad.

camp rock has just finished airing at disney channel. i can't believe i watch these kind of things. well, the only excuse i can give is that i'm a jonas brother's fangirl. *squeal* joe and nick jonas aside, the movie sucked. yeah they can sing, but that's all there is to it. they should have made the singing as realistic as possible as this was supposed to be a "musical" movie.

me and teh freaky sissy is watching betty la fea. i'm having goosebumps right now. how can a "love story" be this freaky?! omg. this is beyond reason!

i'm currently talking via yahoo! messenger with my aunt in hayward, cali where the mother is currently staying. the mother is cooking puto so i'm just able to hear her comments. it's nice that i don't have to buy and scratch call cards just to talk to the mother. with ym, we can even see each other while gossiping about teh stupid neighbors. and the best thing about it is that it is entirely FREE. knowing me, i'd rather not talk to her the whole of her stay there than spend hundreds for a telephone call. haha. i'd rather send emails which i often do not do.
